Creative Pivot

A month ago I was working on the project I had been
tackling for about six months.  It was a big beautiful messy project
that morphed from autofiction to fantasy.

Me: 😱
Also Me: Didn’t see that one coming.

No, I truly didn’t.  I wasn’t expecting it, but the project just got bigger and bigger.

There wasn’t a lot of actual narrative writing,
but an enormous amount of planning and outlining and imagining,
and dreaming, and crossing out and starting over.

I started at blog at dorisvontettenborn.com that was mostly about Sharing My Work
based on the book by Austin Kleon Show Your Work™️.

It might be fun, I thought, to share how my planning progressed.

I wasn’t expecting to document such a sharp turn,
but it made it all the more appropriate!
How does one get to Z when you started at A?

But then I started the 33 day writing challenge on Medium
and Duchess pushed her flamboyant witchy self on to centre stage.
She is insistent I tell her story.

So now I’ve switched to writing a cozy magical realism project called
“Tales From the Enchanted Dreamweaver Mansion”™️.

All the more appropriate to discuss the progression of the writing on the blog,
but now I need to pivot.  The banner currently on the blog is
little Audrey fighting her way out of a dark tunnel
into a bright beautiful future.

Now, it will be all about Duchess and her Tales of healing and redemption.

My son also built another website, specific for this project at dorisvontettenborn.ca —
“Holy Weird Supernatural Stories™️”

It is technically live.  But it is a house with the lights on but no furniture.
I keep wandering through it, imagining where the stories will go.

A month ago, I put my backyard garden to bed for the winter.
Gardening is my busy season.

Winter has typically been my pull-on-fuzzy-flannel-pyjamas-sit-around-with-a-tablet-and-wine-hibernate season.

This year I am going to be busy.

Me: Sounds like fun!
Also Me: Wow, even she is enthusiastic!
