Technologically Challenged

Still Confused

In the midst of the rabid discussion about the role of AI in our lives, I have certainly found a use that is invaluable to me.  I am definitely technology challenged.  Instructions give me a headache. Words blur.

So, I will ask AI to give me instructions on how to do something on my blog, for instance.  Even then, the first steps usually sound like they are in Martian.  I keep asking for more and more simple steps, sometimes even saying “Give me instructions on how to make a link ‘for Dummies’”.

Me: Tell me how to set up a link on a page to an article farther down on the page.

AI: [insert <a href=”Ω://localhost:42/∑Δ?redirect=✨”> into your hypertext nebula,

     then run chmod +🪐xr –galactic-permissions /usr/blog/portals]

Me: Dumb it down

AI: [To generate a hyperlink, declare an <a> element in your HTML markup,

assign the href attribute to the absolute or relative URL,

and enclose the target anchor text between the opening and closing tags.

Optionally, append target=”_blank” if you want the resource to resolve in a new browsing context]

Me: Dumber, like For Dummies

AI: Step 1: Type <a href="https://example.com">.
Step 2: Put the words you want people to click, like Click here.
Step 3: Type </a> to close it.

Me: Come on, Dumber, Technophobe speak!

AI:  Call Cory.  Or Ross.  They’re your programmers.  I’m out.
